What't this all about

I have had a lot of experience with all aspects of marksmanship now, and thought that a blog would be a great way to share some of my mistakes and triumphs. This blog is to review than many optics and scopes that have adorned my many firearms, for my gun reviews please visit grambosguns.blogspot.com. If you in the market for an aiming device, stick around there is much to see right here.

The tasco Wal-Mart special:

This is as cheap as you can get for a scope that works reasonably well. A 3-9x40 will run you $30-$40 they sell rings for $5 more. They are in the sporting goods section. It has capped turrets and once un-capped the adjusters have no numerical markings.

THE GOOD:
It works great for the range, out to 100 yards.

THE BAD:
This is not a high quality scope, don’t try to make it something it isn’t, this will not survive a 30.06.
It’s not easily sighted in.
The zoom is difficult to manipulate.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

This will likely surprise you, but I feel there is a place in the shooting sports for this scope. This is the optic I would recommend to anyone looking to scope a pellet gun, .22lr, or non-heavy barrel .17hmr. It has reasonably clear glass, it handles light recoil like a champ, stays zeroed fine and isn’t too much of an eye sore. Your 10/22 will thank you for getting it this scope.
